On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, a graduation ceremony for the Maritime Safety and Security Policy Program (MSP) was held at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo. At the ceremony, Ms. Yuko Kawamoto, President of the National Personnel Authority, gave a congratulatory speech, and Professor Ota, president of the GRIPS, and Vice Admiral Tsutsui, superintendent of the Japan Coast Guard Academy, presented all 10 MSP students with master's degrees in policy studies.
In addition, on behalf of all the graduates of GRIPS, an MSP student from JCG gave a speech and expressed gratitude to the professors who provided guidance and their families for their support. The MSP students also expressed their gratitude for the bonds they formed, which will be lifelong assets.
For about one year, from October 2023, the MSP members have cultivated academic knowledge and advanced practical skills that can respond to various issues at sea and have grown close through sleeping and eating together under the same accommodation. The MSP students will return to their respective countries at the end of this month. They will contribute to the safety and security of the oceans through the knowledge and networking they have acquired through this program.
